Elie (1983)

Text is the poem by Hannah Senesh. Ethereal setting of the folk melody with hocket. The well-known tune is sung in sequence but where each pitch is sung and held by a different voice. Each voice holds it's pitch until the other three have had their turn. This cyclical hocketing strings out the linear melody resulting in modal clusters combined with glissandi.
